What is a Lifecycle Celebrant?

Updated: Aug 6, 2019

As an independent civil celebrant I am qualified to prepare and deliver 'family' events (weddings, civil ceremonies, vow renewals, naming ceremonies) and also funerals or memorials...

I choose to brand myself as a 'Lifecycle Celebrant' as, for me, all these events are celebrations of life, a life that is a repeating cycle (birth, relationships, death), and no one life event is any less significant than another and any less worthy of celebration!

In the West, we tend to see death as a time of mourning and we can feel awkward or even guilty if we choose to incorporate anything celebratory into the funeral ceremony. In other parts of the world, however, the death of a loved one is celebrated as the next step in their journey and the start of a new adventure! It is only the physical body that has died (as all life on Earth must), but the Soul lives on.

Our life is a process of beginnings and endings. Something we perceive as ending is at the same time a new beginning, a time of change, of adjustment. Sometimes it can be harder to make those adjustments but it is all part of the cycle of life.

Whether you are celebrating a new life, relationship, commitment, or a life or relationship that has ended, I will work with you and your family to create a unique and personalised ceremony that you can treasure.
